Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before getting in touch.

If your question isn't answered here, just ask directly — every situation is a little different.

Is rehoming a reptile with Second Terrarium free?

Yes. There's no fee to rehome an animal with me. The priority is finding the animal a proper home, not making money from the handover.

What areas do you cover?

I'm based in Leeds and cover the wider Yorkshire area. If you're further afield, get in touch anyway — it may still be possible to arrange something.

What species do you take in?

Snakes, lizards and geckos, tortoises and turtles, and reptile equipment such as vivariums and heat lamps. If your animal isn't listed, ask anyway — most reptiles can be placed somewhere.

Do you take sick or elderly reptiles?

Yes. Health and age don't rule an animal out — they just affect what kind of home is right for it.

Will my reptile definitely come to you directly?

Not always. Some animals are placed with me directly, others go to a trusted local reptile shop if that's the better fit for the animal's needs. Either way, it's assessed properly rather than passed on quickly.

What information should I include when I get in touch?

Species, age, health, current housing, and the reason you're rehoming. Photos help but aren't essential to get started.

How quickly will I hear back?

Usually within a day or two. If the situation is urgent for the animal's welfare, say so in your message and it'll be prioritised.

Can I take equipment without an animal, or an animal without equipment?

Either is fine. Equipment on its own is welcome, and animals are taken in whether or not their existing setup comes with them.

Still have a question?

Send a message and I'll get back to you directly.
